Think Friday: Resource & Research

New Resource – Walk & Pray

WHAT:

Daily walks around local community have become a feature of life, and drawn us into a deeper awareness of who, where and what surrounds our daily existence.

The Evangelical Alliance have created Walk & Pray – a series of short, simple prayers to use as you walk around your local community – helping you to – Walk & Pray…

As we pray the same prayers – across the UK – God’s people are united in spirit, united in purpose and united in vision. We are united with each other – but as we become present to God, present to people in our place – we participate, join in with the renewing work of Jesus Christ in these streets, towns, cities and nation.

WHO:

The prayers are simple, short and accessible. They unite the Church as God’s people across denominations and expressions.

Use this resource as:

-          Individual/family to enrich you as you follow Jesus

-          Small groups, as you pass through a shared location asking God to work in this patch

-          Church leader, to create a sense of unity among your people, to care for the surrounding area and to resource your prayer gathering

We are asking church leaders if they would consider posting the prayers that are relevant to their immediate community on their prayer boards – to create a sense of unity and identity.

HOW:

Download the pdf to your phone, or print it off and fold it to carry easily.

Pause to pray these words on your own, as family over the places you pass through.

Share the prayer resource around your friendship groups, small group and church family.

Pray with the identity of Church scattered. We are God’s people in this time, for this place.

Choose to make yourself present:

-          present to God, whose presence permeates each place

-          present to the people and places you live among

Stand in the place of prayer as you seek God’s Kingdom to come in this patch of earth – just as it is in heaven.

As you pray, listen to God’s prompting you, your family, your small group – to be the place where your prayer is answered. How might you respond as you pray?

-   Write the prayer out on a card and send it to the neighbouring nursing home, school or greengrocers…

-   Contact a local charity, business leader to ask what they need to support the vulnerable during this time…

WALK & PRAY: together – the Evangelical Alliance invite you to share how you are praying for your local community using the hashtag #walk&pray

 Research

The Evangelical Alliance wants to better understand your context so that we can serve you, and so we can carry your voice into the heart of government.

This survey for leaders of churches and Christian organisations is designed to provide a picture of what is happening across the UK and how this current crisis is impacting you.

Through the responses we will have a better picture of how we can equip and resource you best, and what we need to call on the government to do with urgency.

This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. If you are willing to include your email address we will email you a summary of the results and will also invite you to take part in follow up surveys. You can complete the survey here.
