Think Friday: Modi, May and Mission

We have an interesting combination of stories for you this week, all around mission.

Narendra Modi and the BJP party have won the recent elections in India. India ranks number 10 on Open Doors World Watch List of the 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution. We need to pray for the 64 million Christians who live in India under the threat of persecution and violence.

By the time you read this Theresa May will probably have announced her departure date. Many struggled to vote in the European elections yesterday and we live in a time of deep political uncertainty. This uncertainty reminds us of the importance of mission.

We have a couple of events coming up to help us all think and engage more missionally. On the 13th June we are running a joint event with CVM and Hope infused with a vision to resource and equip the NI Church to effectively communicate the gospel to our changing culture. You can find more info here.

We are also running an event to help the church wrestle with understanding transgender in our changing culture. This will be an evening event open to everyone and will be of particular interest to parents, youth and church leaders, and those who meet those front he transgender community as part of their work. Keep an eye out on social media for further details.

Hebrews 12:28 reminds us - “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe;”

Have a great bank holiday weekend and be blessed,

Peter
