Public Leadership Programme 2018/19

The Public Leadership Programme is a pioneering initiative developed by Evangelical Alliance, with cohorts established in Scotland and England. Beginning in Autumn 2018, our Public Leader: Northern Ireland programme will gather 12-15 emerging leaders in their 20s and 30s from diverse sectors in the public square for a year of equipping and development.

Public Leadership Programme participants have the opportunity to undertake a journey of equipping, mentoring and support to grow into their unique role of leadership for the 21st century and be confident in their voice wherever God has called them.

As well as learning from expert Christian leaders in a range of fields, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with other emerging leaders from across the public square and enter into our developing alumni programme.

We’re aiming this programme for those leading the way in politics, the arts, media, academia, business, education and civil society. Public Leadership is for those seeking justice, writers, musicians, health professionals, sports men and women, those taking risks in start ups and those seeking to bring fresh vision to organisations that have been in business for generations.

We’re wanting to draw together a cohort of young, teachable leaders who reflect the diversity of the Public Square in Northern Ireland and want to contribute towards it’s good.

The programme includes:

GATHERINGS

Through monthly evening gatherings and two residential experiences, participants will have the opportunity to learn from local public leaders and the team from the Evangelical Alliance around the areas of calling, competency, character and culture. These gatherings will also involve site visits to locations around Northern Ireland.

Contributors include: Sir Nigel Hamilton (former head Civil Service NI), Dr. Karise Hutchinson (Provost, University of Ulster), Andrew Masters (Lagan Valley Vineyard), the team at Evangelical Alliance, and many more to be announced.

The monthly gatherings will take place on Monday evenings and the residentials (Friday evening - Saturday late afternoon), will take place in October and Spring 2019.

LEARNING

We have developed a learning curriculum that includes a series of books, podcasts, articles and resources to stretch your thinking.

MENTORSHIP

As well as input from senior figures, there is also the potential for a year-long mentor to help further your development.

THE DETAILS

Applicants are to be around 25 - 35, with some prior experience of leadership and a desire to explore the next steps God is leading them to. Applicants are expected to be in agreement with the Evangelical Alliance's basis of faith. Through the application process, participants must submit a reference from a Church leader and a public leader.

The year long programme costs £400. This will include the cost of the two residentials and each of the evening gatherings. You may want to speak to your church leader about support - but if cost is an inhibiting factor, get in touch and we can discuss bursary options.

If you are wanting to apply - email us at s.bothwell@eauk.org and our team will send you an application pack.

The application deadline is 5pm on 1st June and following the application process we will request a time for an interview in early to mid June.
